Only Keep What Delights You

Check out my new kicks!

I am a self-confessed crazy cat lady.

So, when my BFF sent me the link to these AWESOME Skechers with kitty faces all over them, I knew I had to have them.

They delighted me.

When I started over after my second divorce, I promised myself that I would only surround myself with things that delighted me.

Yeah, it required a little more effort to search out the things that made me stop in my tracks, but it was so worth it.

Finding the things that delight you is an interesting lesson in self-discovery.

I found a Raggedy Ann doll that delighted me. I didn't even like Raggedy Ann dolls as a child.

You know those statues (like lions or the one from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) that you put on your front porch?

They were totally not on my radar. Until the day I walked into a Home Goods in Savannah, GA and found a gargoyle.

He delighted me. (I named him Tim, because, well, what else would you name a gargoyle?)

Then there's my welcome mat. It's plain brown with one word on it.

I literally stood there in Bed, Bath and Beyond laughing for 10 full minutes when I found it.

Yup, that came home with me, too.

Now, all these years later, these things still delight me. When I got rid of 90% of what I owned to move to Asheville, these items all came with me.

So, here's my sage advice for today. Surround yourself with things that delight you.

You deserve them.

Sending you all so much love. ❤️ Alissa

P.S. If you have something that delights you, I'd love to know what it is! Even better, post a pic of it!

So, whaddya think?
